I’d like to start by wishing Lucy Taylor

all the best for the future and thank

her for her time as editor of this fine

publication. Lucy worked tirelessly to

keep Rude Health fresh and vibrant

over the years. Thankfully her shoes

will be filled by new editor Liz Parry

who has hit the ground running

with this July/August edition. Topics

including must-have minerals, the role of spices in overall

health and the importance of essential fatty acids are all

featured and reflective of what we are finding popular in

stores at the moment. Best of luck Liz. I’ll try not to stress

you out with deadline day submissions!

For Health Stores Ireland, June saw us gather in Cork

for our annual AGM, where a diverse group of like-minded

retailers were able to compare notes and discuss the ever-

evolving challenges faced by our industry. Our association

partners also joined us for the afternoon session which is

always appreciated. Without our quality wholesalers we’d

have empty shelves and no satisfied customers.

We are always looking at ways to better serve you, our

customers, by keeping up with the latest research and trends.

Health stores are often copied but never equalled. Where else

can you ask for a bottle of “euthanasia” and be understood

as looking for echinacea? Something which has happened to

many of us HSI members! Although that’s a funny interaction

to have, it illustrates how the ability to decipher what people

mean is essential in our industry. Asking questions in order to

get to the bottom of our customers’ issues is very important.

So don’t be shy when you are next seeking advice in your

local health store. We are here to help within the framework

of our industry-standard protocol.

In our last issue I spoke about the upcoming launch of

the new-look healthstores.ie website and I’m happy to say

it’s taken shape. So why not have a look after reading another

excellent issue of Rude Health magazine?.

Welcoming our

new editor!

Dubliners are being encouraged to get active and take part in

a Park and Trails Challenge this July. Everyone who takes part

in the challenge, which covers all four local authority areas,

will be entered into a prize draw. There are a total of 24 walks

to choose from, and a mixture of parks and trails have been

chosen in each area. The challenge has been uploaded onto

the Dublin Trails app where all of the 24 locations are listed

along with maps of each walk. The aim of the initiative is to

encourage people to improve their fitness, discover their local

parks and trails and also explore parks and trails in the greater

Dublin area. Find out more info at dublindiscoverytrails.ie/
