WDLT Employee Handbook

PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE

Progressive Discipline: A system of increasingly severe penalties for repeated or

more serious infractions, designed to give an employee an opportunity to correct

their behavior or improve their performance before more drastic measures are

taken.

Termination of Employment: The permanent separation of an employee from

the company, often because of a failure to meet performance standards or serious

policy violations.

Verbal Warning: An informal, documented discussion with an employee about

a minor issue, outlining expectations and consequences.

Written Warning: A formal document detailing a performance or conduct

issue, required corrective actions, and potential consequences if not addressed.

The company is committed to fostering a supportive and productive work

environment. When an employee's conduct or performance falls below established

standards, the company will typically employ a progressive discipline process. This

process is designed to address issues in a constructive manner, providing employees

with clear communication regarding expectations, opportunities for improvement,

along with support and training to meet those expectations.

Progressive Discipline Steps

The progressive discipline steps may include, but are not limited to:

Verbal Warning and Training: For minor infractions or first-time offenses, a

verbal discussion will take place between the employee and their manager. The

issue will be discussed, expectations clarified, and a timeframe for improvement

may be set. Relevant training or retraining may also be provided. The employee

will be asked to sign the warning to acknowledge receipt, and the warning will

become part of their employee file. The impact of this warning on future

progressive discipline steps will typically expire 90 days from the date of

employee acknowledgment.

Written Warning and Training: If the issue persists or if a more serious

infraction occurs, a formal written warning will be issued. This document will

detail the specific problem, refer to relevant policies, outline required corrective

actions, and specify consequences for continued non-compliance. Additional

training or retraining pertinent to the issue may also be required. The employee

will be asked to sign the warning to acknowledge receipt, and the warning will

become part of their employee file. The impact of this warning on future

progressive discipline steps will typically expire 90 days from the date of

employee acknowledgment.
