DRUG & ALCOHOL USE

Policy Scope:

This policy outlines the expectations regarding drug and alcohol use within and

outside of the workplace in compliance with state and federal laws, including the

regulations surrounding the legal use of marijuana.

Policy and Policy Definitions:

We Do Life… Together (WDLT) is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and

productive work environment for all employees. The use of drugs and alcohol can

impair an employee's ability to perform their job safely and effectively, posing

serious health and safety risks.

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and temporary workers of WDLT

when such staff are:

On WDLT’s premises

Working for or providing services to WDLT whether on or off the premises,

including when driving for WDLT business

Representing WDLT in any way whatsoever and/or

Off WDLT’s premises and during non-working time, if a staff member’s

conduct affects their ability to work for or could harm WDLT’s business or

reputation

Prohibited Conduct:

WDLT prohibits the following:

The manufacture, distribution, dispensation, purchase, sale, possession, or use

of controlled substances or illegal drugs

Reporting to work or working under the influence of illegal drugs, controlled

substances (including cannabis/marijuana), or alcohol. However, an employee

may use prescription medications (other than palliative cannabis) at work if

prescribed by a doctor and if the doctor has confirmed the medication(s) does

not impair the employee’s ability to safely perform their duties

The use, possession, and / or being under the influence of marijuana, even if

legally obtained (except possession only of palliative cannabis by a qualifying

patient under Connecticut law), at work and /or while on shift

The misuse of prescribed or over-the-counter medications impairing an

employee's ability to perform their job safely
