PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES
Policy Scope
The Professional Boundaries policy outlines the expectations for all employees,
contractors, volunteers, and interns of We Do Life...Together (WDLT) regarding the
establishment and maintenance of appropriate professional boundaries when
interacting with Individuals and team members, aiming to ensure a clear
distinction between personal and professional relationships and promoting a safe,
respectful, and ethical environment.
Policy Definitions
Guardian: A person officially authorized to act on behalf of an Individual,
which may include family members, advocates, or another designated person(s).
Individual: Any person receiving services from the Company.
Manager: Any employee with authority to direct, oversee, or evaluate the work
performance of other staff members.
Professional Boundaries: Appropriate limits that define the professional
relationship between staff and Individuals, distinguishing professional
relationships from personal, social, or business relationships.
Quid-Pro-Quo: An exchange of goods or services where one transfer is
contingent upon the other, typically implying an inappropriate or unethical
exchange in a professional context.
Policy
WDLT recognizes that maintaining clear professional boundaries is essential for
effective service delivery and for safeguarding both Individuals and staff. All staff
members are expected to be continuously aware of their actions and the potential
impact they may have on Individuals. The role of staff is to support and encourage
Individuals without blurring the lines into personal friendships. Everyone is
required to act in a professional capacity, treating each other and the Individuals
with whom we work, with respect always.
