The first paintings by ndrzej miasto×ski embody the cry of anger and despair of a citizen ×itnes-
sing a slo× and painful agony of their country The despair of somebody ×ho is smothered by the lack
of freedom
bese bald and old people ithered trees People strolling about in bogs the pungent smell almost
palpable People ×ith briefcases in their hands ×alking to×ards destinations unkno×n People
desperately gasping for air like fish taken out of ×ater ejected and destroyed The oÖerarching
sense of oppression is highlighted by black grey and deep red colours The unnerÖing and harsh pain-
tings are thus a peculiar praise of freedom and liberty
The late s brought about the longa×aited changes and Poland once again felt hope ndrzej
×as ready to leaÖe the city and settle do×n in a Öillage in ashubia surrounded by forests and clean
lakes This ne× life brought about deep changes concerning the themes tackled by his paintings and
the colour palette he used
These days the artist liÖes surrounded by nature and his paintings reŊect the subseuent seasons of
the year is spring ×orks are filled ×ith the green of the meado×s ×hile in fall he focuses on yello×
and red hues The morning mist sunsets and light play a key role in his paintings giÖing out certain
Öibrations n some cases the liÖing beings stop dead in their tracks ×hile the forest starts dancing
this does not mean that ndrzej paints landscapes he puts human beings at the heart of his ×orks
iÖing people ×ho loÖe ×ork and suffer but ×ho can also appreciate the small pleasures of eÖeryday
life e can feel the tenderness and empathy of the artist but also notice a tinge of surprise and be×il-
derment in his eyes Thus the author paints the human comedy ×ith emotions eÜuding from his
×orks leaÖing a lasting mark on the Öie×ers
haÖe been follo×ing ndrzejs career for many years and his paintings continue to bring me a lot of joy
