Into our fifth season, our Dippers hit the beach without
looking back. As our regulars returned to meet and
greet some old and many new volunteer faces, the fun
began both on the beach and in the water.
Our partnership with Autism Swim allows us to
continue this program and provide our Dippers with a
safe environment to learn and experience the beach
safely. We are very grateful for this growing partnership.
Jessica- Lily Perlov returned as our Clinician from
Autism Swim, providing direction and guidance where
it was needed.
Our volunteer base exceeded expectations with many
new faces joining our team. The Bronze qualification
that most of our team had achieved helped while the
Dippers were in the water.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers and the support
and direction from Autism Swim.
Bondi Nippers generously donated the funds for us to
purchase a ‘Lily Pad’, a floating foam mattress that
allowed our Dippers to ride the waves without the
worry of balancing a board. It was a great addition to
our activities and was the hit of the season.
I asked one of our star Dippers, Rosie Irvine, a few
questions-
What is your favourite thing about this season at
Dippers?
I had fun with lots of my friends and had really good
Sundays and fun activities.
Why do you love Dippers?
Because it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.
What did you think of the new ‘Lily Pad’?
It is so much fun, it’s a lot of fun to fall off it together
(*she said giggling)
What do you think of our volunteers?
The volunteers are so nice, they are really fun to be
with and they are very kind to us and especially all the
people that organise it- see you all next year
And a season sign-off from Rosie and her family-
Thanks for such a supportive season for her. We value
the Dippers and all that it has offered Rose over the
last few years.
