LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Pay Status: This leave is unpaid. Employees may be required to exhaust all
accrued paid time off (PTO) before commencing an unpaid discretionary leave.
Benefit Continuation: Continuation of group health benefits during non-
FMLA/CFMLA leave is not legally mandated and will be subject to WDLT's
policy and the terms of the insurance plan.
Job Protection: Reinstatement to the same or an equivalent position upon
return from a non-FMLA/CFMLA leave is not guaranteed and will be at the
sole discretion of WDLT, based on business needs and position availability.
Consistency: While discretionary, such leaves will be administered consistently
to avoid any form of discrimination.
I. Unpaid Administrative Leave (AL)
WDLT may, in its discretion place an employee on unpaid administrative leave
under specific circumstances, typically related to investigations or situations where
an employee's continued presence in the workplace may be disruptive or pose a
risk, or when a policy violation (such as training non-compliance) has occurred
which requires an employee to be removed from a work schedule.
Purpose: To allow for an impartial investigation into alleged misconduct, to
address workplace safety concerns, or other legitimate business reasons.
Duration: AL is generally for a brief period, determined by the needs of the
investigation or situation.
Pay Status: While an employee is on AL, they are not paid. If the investigation
determines that no violation of a company policy has occurred, the employee
will be paid for the time they have spent on AL, if employee was scheduled to
work. If it is determined that a violation of company policy has occurred, the
employee will NOT be paid.
Expectations During Leave: Employees placed on AL will be provided with clear
written guidelines regarding their responsibilities during the leave, including
any restrictions on contacting colleagues, accessing company premises, or
performing work.
Confidentiality: All matters related to AL, particularly those involving
investigations, will be handled confidentially.
Not an Entitlement: Unpaid administrative leave is not an employee
entitlement and is granted solely at the discretion of WDLT.
