EMPLOYEE SEPARATION
Resignation
All employees must provide a minimum of two (2) weeks' written notice to their
immediate manager or the Human Resources Department when they resign. This
applies to all positions within WDLT.
While employees are expected to dedicate their notice period to work
responsibilities and transition duties, the use of accrued Paid Sick Leave (PSL) for
reasons permitted under Connecticut state law will be honored. All other forms of
paid time off (such as vacation or personal time) cannot be used during the notice
period, even if previously scheduled or approved before the resignation was
submitted.
Upon receiving a resignation, the employee's manager and Human Resources will
acknowledge it and start the separation process. While two weeks' notice is
required, WDLT reserves the right to accept the resignation and make the
employees’ last day of employment sooner based on business needs or other factors.
If this happens, the employee will still be paid for the full two week notice period.
Departing employees are expected to fully cooperate in the orderly transition of
their duties, responsibilities, and ongoing projects to their successor or other
designated employees during their notice period.
Transition to Per-Diem/Substitute Status (Voluntary)
Employees currently in full-time or part-time positions who want to switch to a
perdiem/substitute status must submit a written request to their manager or the
Human Resources Department. This request should clearly state their desire for a
status change and indicate their proposed last day in their current full-time/part-
time role.
A minimum of two (2) weeks' written notice is generally required for a transition to
perdiem/substitute status, like a resignation, to allow for a proper transition of
duties.
All requests for a change to per-diem/substitute status are subject to review and
approval by
the employee's manager, based on WDLT's operational needs and the availability of
perdiem/substitute work opportunities. Approval is not guaranteed.
