DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT
Any violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action up to and including
termination of employment. Please note that while this policy deals specifically
with behavior that is defined as harassment, WDLT may also impose disciplinary
action for any workplace conduct that the organization deems unacceptable, and
this policy is not meant to limit the Company’ s authority to do so.
Sexual Harassment
WDLT specifically prohibits sexual harassment of its employees in the workplace.
Sexual harassment is defined as sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and
other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:
Submission to such advances, requests or conduct is made either explicitly or
implicitly a term or condition of employment
Submission to or rejection of such advances, requests or conduct by an
employee is used as a basis for employment decisions affecting such employee;
or
Such advances, requests or conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially or
unreasonably interfering with an employee’s work performance or creating an
intimidating, hostile, humiliating or offensive working environment
Under these definitions, direct or implied requests by a manager for sexual favors
in exchange for actual or promised job benefits such as favorable reviews, salary
increases, promotions, increased benefits or continued employment constitutes
sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment can take many forms, subtle or not so subtle. While it is not
possible to list all the circumstances that may constitute sexual harassment, the
following are some examples of conduct that are prohibited under this policy and, if
unwelcome, may constitute sexual harassment depending upon the totality of the
circumstances including the severity of the conduct and its pervasiveness:
Unwanted sexual advances whether they involve physical touching or not,
propositions or other sexual comments, jokes, noises or gestures
Displaying or possessing in the workplace any pictures, calendars, objects,
reading material or other materials that are threatening, demeaning, insulting,
hostile, sexually suggestive or pornographic
Sexual epithets, jokes, written or oral references to sexual conduct, gossip
regarding one's sex life, comment on a person's body, comment about a
person’s sexual activity, deficiencies, or prowess
