PROGRAM ONBOARDING POLICY
POLICY SCOPE
All employees working direct care at any of our programs must be properly
onboarded prior to the start of their work shift.
POLICY AND POLICY DEFINITIONS
All employees working direct care at any of our programs must be properly
onboarded, including completing a program orientation and having read through
and understanding all the Individuals’ plans before their work shift.
Properly onboarded means all required documentation, including but not limited to
behavior support plans, medical plans, etc.), has been read, understood, and signed
off. In addition, the employee must complete an onsite walkthrough of the program
to ensure they know where critical items are located including but not limited to
first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, etc.
Employees are required to go through onboarding any time they work at a different
program or when documentation is updated, or critical items are added/relocated at
their assigned program.
If an employee has any questions or concerns about their onboarding, they should
ask questions to the program manager or on-call manager before they start their
work shift.
DOCUMENTATION UPDATES/CRITICAL ITEMS ADDED/RELOCATED
Every time documentation is updated, or critical items are added/relocated in a
program, employees must go through onboarding and sign-off again. This must be
done before the first work shift after the updates have been made.
DIRECTOR/MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
Directors and Managers are responsible for ensuring all employees working at their
program(s) are properly onboarded prior to their work shift. This includes not only
initial onboarding, but also when updates are made and/or critical items are
added/relocated.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION
Ensuring team members are properly onboarded to work direct care is not only the
employee’s responsibility, but also those involved with the oversight and processes
of each program. Failure to properly onboard employees will result in disciplinary
action including up to termination.
