WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
Personal Development Skills (PDS) takes an
active approach to personal development,
self-realisation and citizenship by exploring
interrelationships between individuals and
communities, with a focus on health and
wellbeing in Units 1 and 2. Students explore
influences on identity, set and achieve
personal goals, interact positively with diverse
communities, and identify and respond to
challenges. They will develop skills in self-
knowledge and care, accessing reliable
information, teamwork, identifying their goals
and future pathways, effective leadership,
project planning and teamwork in their work,
community and personal environments. There
is a focus on the benefits of community
participation and how people can work
together effectively to achieve a shared goal.
Students explore different types of
communities at a local, national and global
level and examine some of the current and
future challenges issues affecting these.
