Sometimes we want to make things better for ourselves and for
the planet we live on. But there are diferent ways to do it,
depending on how long we want to wait to see results.
Short-term ways are things we can do quickly to make a diference
right away. For example, picking up trash on the ground to keep
our neighborhood clean.
Medium-term ways take a little longer, maybe a few years, but
they try to make bigger changes that will last longer. For example,
using less energy in our homes by turning of lights when we
leave a room or using less water when we brush our teeth.
Long-term ways take even longer, maybe decades or more, but
they try to make really big changes that will help not just us but
also people in the future. For example, using more renewable
energy like solar and wind power instead of fossil fuels like oil and
gas.
All of these ways are important and we can use them together to
make things better for ourselves and for the planet we live on!
DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO SUSTAINABILITY:
SHORT, MEDIUM AND LONG TERM
“Sustainable innovation is when a company makes changes to the things they sell or the way they make
them. These changes make the world a better place by helping people and not hurting the environment.
Even though they make these changes, they can still make money and be successful as a business. A smart
person named Richard Adams studied this and found out how it works.”
