Dear Readers,
Welcome to the November 2024 edition, where we delve into the evolving landscapes of finance, markets, and
global business.
In this edition, we provide a compelling overview of the global trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping our
future. Featured topics include "Capital Markets - Risks that Matter," "Future of Finance - Growth Strategies in
Shifting Landscapes," and "Dubai: A Haven for Ultra-Rich Investors." We also explore transformative shifts in
"Evolving People Practices" and "Cross-Border Acceleration for Global Growth," focusing on workplace innovation
and global expansion. Practical insights cover "Ensuring Compliance and Sustainability for Indian Stock Brokers,"
the impact of "Soft vs. Hard Credit Checks," and how corporations can "Leverage PR Effectively.” On the personal
front, "Optimal Skin, Hair & Wellness in a Busy Lifestyle" offers wellness tips, while "Diwali: Embracing the Light of
Knowledge, Community, and Goodness" celebrates the deeper meanings of the festival.
This edition also highlights the September 18, 2024, celebration of the first anniversary of the Brokers Industry
Standards Forum (ISF) at the NSE, marking a significant milestone. Further coverage includes the BBF's 5th Edition
of the 'India Investor Show' on October 15, part of the global World Investor Week 2024, under the esteemed aegis
of SEBI. On October 18, the event will feature a Panel Discussion on Regulatory Directions for Stockbrokers, where
industry leaders and regulatory authorities will explore the dynamic landscape of stockbroking regulations and their
implications for market participants. The celebrations will conclude with a delightful Diwali Dinner & Annual Get-
Together 2024, offering a wonderful opportunity for networking and reflection on the past year's achievements as
we set our sights on future endeavours.
On the Economy and Indian Capital Markets: The Indian stock markets have faced a significant decline due to the
ongoing conflict in the Middle East, with markets hitting a five-month low. Foreign Institutional Investors have sold
over ₹48,000 crore in October 2024, while Mutual Funds have invested only ₹15,600 crore, with some funds shifting
towards the Chinese stock market. This has created panic among retail investors as their portfolio values have
dropped sharply.
China's aggressive measures to revive its economy are attracting foreign interest. Global brokerage CLSA has
increased its exposure to China while reducing its stake in Indian equities, now allocating 5% overweight to China
and cutting India's allocation from 20% to 10%. China's anticipated cut of its bank reserve rate by 50 basis points and
potential stimulus package come as its GDP falls to 4.5%.
On a positive note, India's GST collection for September 2024 was ₹1.73 lakh crore, a 6.5% increase from last year,
indicating a resilient domestic economy. The RBI has maintained the repo rate at 6.5%, citing concerns over inflation
due to geopolitical tensions and weather-related issues.
We hope this edition provides valuable insights into key developments impacting our world. Enjoy reading, and we
welcome your feedback!
