GERMAN CULTURE IN COLORADO DIRECTORY 2024/25

INTRODUCTION

Dear Coloradans and Visitors,

Thank you for picking up this directory and showing

interest in German culture.

Colorado has deep German roots dated back much

earlier than 1876, when the Colorado constitution

came into effect and was published in three

languages—one of them being German. Many

Coloradans have spent time in Germany as part of

the military and built long lasting connections to the

country, and recently a new surge of Germans have

been moving to our State for job opportunities as

well as the outdoor lifestyle and beautiful weather.

According to DataUSA.io, German is still the 3rd most common non-English language spoken

in Colorado households. In 2020 22,635 households reported German as their main language,

only preceded by Spanish and Chinese languages. According to StatisticalAtlas.com, over

20.3% of Colorado’s population also report having German ancestry.

As the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter, we strive to foster

German-American business through professional and cultural programs. We are often asked

to recommend German products and services available in Colorado. This directory shall

therefore serve as a guide to finding the best pretzels, the most authentic Biergarten, or

finding a German-speaking hair dresser or real estate agent. Some businesses listed here

might not be entirely German, but they offer something that gives the German-American

community a sense of home.

We do our best to find and include all German focused businesses in Colorado, but there

might be a few more hidden gems out there. So please let us know if you know of any

businesses that should be listed for free in the next edition.

We hope you will enjoy this directory and that it will inspire you to (re)create good memories,

while you visit the places and businesses listed in here.
