GERMAN CULTURE IN COLORADO DIRECTORY
Whether you’re a lifelong Denver resident
or planning a day trip to Colorado’s capital,
downtown Denver offers plenty to explore.
Start with a visit to the Colorado State
Capitol, home to the Colorado General
Assembly and the offices of the Governor,
Lieutenant Governor, and Treasurer. Inside,
you’ll find Colorado marble, stained glass
windows depicting state history, and U.S.
presidential portraits.
Next, head to the Denver Art Museum, stroll
down 16th Street Mall for shopping, or
visit historic Larimer Square. When hunger
strikes, Denver boasts excellent German
restaurants and beer gardens. Try house-
made sausages and pretzels at Rhein Haus
Denver or authentic German-style beers at
Prost Brewing Co.
After lunch, catch a game at one of Denver’s
stadiums. Near Ball Arena, visit the German
American Treffpunkt, launched in April
2024 by the German American Chamber of
Commerce – Colorado Chapter, for business
and cultural events. Finally, unwind with
a traditional lager at Bierstadt Lagerhaus
and sample their schnitzel, currywurst,
or pretzels.
If visiting in late November or December,
don’t miss the Denver Christkindlmarket
for a taste of German and European holiday
traditions, foods, and crafts.
