GERMAN CULTURE IN COLORADO DIRECTORY 2024/25
INTRODUCTION
Dear Coloradans and Visitors,
Thank you for picking up this directory and showing
interest in German culture.
Colorado has deep German roots dated back much
earlier than 1876, when the Colorado constitution
came into effect and was published in three
languages—one of them being German. Many
Coloradans have spent time in Germany as part of
the military and built long lasting connections to the
country, and recently a new surge of Germans have
been moving to our State for job opportunities as
well as the outdoor lifestyle and beautiful weather.
According to DataUSA.io, German is still the 3rd most common non-English language spoken
in Colorado households. In 2020 22,635 households reported German as their main language,
only preceded by Spanish and Chinese languages. According to StatisticalAtlas.com, over
20.3% of Colorado’s population also report having German ancestry.
As the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado Chapter, we strive to foster
German-American business through professional and cultural programs. We are often asked
to recommend German products and services available in Colorado. This directory shall
therefore serve as a guide to finding the best pretzels, the most authentic Biergarten, or
finding a German-speaking hair dresser or real estate agent. Some businesses listed here
might not be entirely German, but they offer something that gives the German-American
community a sense of home.
We do our best to find and include all German focused businesses in Colorado, but there
might be a few more hidden gems out there. So please let us know if you know of any
businesses that should be listed for free in the next edition.
We hope you will enjoy this directory and that it will inspire you to (re)create good memories,
while you visit the places and businesses listed in here.
Your GACC Colorado Chapter Team
Find us on page 39 and we look forward to hearing from you!
Do you know a business that needs to be listed in the next
edition of the German Culture in Colorado Directory?
Contact us at info@gacc-co.org to let us know about them!

47 Bakery’s story centers around the number 47, symbolizing family, tradition,
and inspiration. Founder Léon Speth chose this number to honor his grandfather’s
birth year, 1947. In 2017, Léon moved from Alsace, France, to the United States,
determined to preserve his cultural heritage. This led to the creation of 47 Bakery,
blending French and German traditions.
Our mission is to craft artisanal baked goods using the finest ingredients and
innovative techniques. We offer Residential Retail Delivery, Catering, and booths at
Special Events and Farmer’s Markets across Colorado. Léon’s dedication is inspired
by his wife and their two young boys, making family values the cornerstone of
our business.
Supporting 47 Bakery means joining our journey. Your purchase is more than a
transaction; it’s a celebration of tradition and inspiration. We deeply appreciate
your support for local small businesses, helping us share our family’s story with

Bohemian Biergarten

2017 13th St
Boulder, CO 80302
The Bohemian Biergarten was created and founded by Zdenek Srom in 2013.
Zdenek immigrated from his hometown of Boskovice, Czech Republic in 1996. As a
beer drinking, gastro inspired designer, builder and painter, he was able to execute
his vision of a true European restaurant and pub. The original bricks and vaulted
ceilings found in this historical building provide the perfect backdrop for an old
world feel. The tables you are seated on were built out of 150-year-old reclaimed
lumber and the railings and the light fixtures date back to the early 1900’s. You’ll
feel like you are right back in Europe.
Our menu is inspired by Central European Cuisine from Germany, Czech Republic,
Hungary, Poland and Austria. Some of our menu favorites include jägerschnitzel,
spätzle, goulash, and our giant soft pretzel. Our classic imported beers on draft
include Paulaner, Warsteiner and Pilsner Urquell. Let us transport you to another
place and time with our ambience, imported biers, authentic glassware, authentic
food, timeless design, and quality service. Prost!
