Bondi SBLSC 2023_24 Annual Report

The Beachies had a successful year in 2024, marked by

new talent and commendable performances across

various events. Under Jayson Lincoln’s coaching, the

Beach Sprint Team excelled, with Brendan O’Mahony

leading beach soft sand running.

Inspired by Denise Meuldijk’s Gold medal in 2022,

the team showed prowess from the outset, securing

impressive results in the Beach Stormers Series

across North Steyne, Bulli, Coogee and Terrigal Surf

Clubs. Jayson Lincoln and newcomer Juan Francisco

Dinamarca clinched first place in beach sprints for

their age group, while Nixy Krite and Juan triumphed

in flags.

Elijah Magee impressed in Masters with a second-

place finish in sprints.

The Sydney Branch Championship saw Margie

Simpson-Lee, who joined Bondi in support of Louise

Santos, winning Gold in flags, and Bondi dominating

the 50-59 men’s category with Jayson leading Alex and

Will Mitchell to the flag.

At the NSW State Championships, newcomer Kate

Fitzgerald shone with gold in the 2km, alongside Mitch

Dean’s repeat success. The men’s relay team of Jayson,

Juan, Nico and Jesse, secured gold, while Juan and Jesse

displayed speed in the sprint and Campbell Dawson

displayed his gazelle-like abilities in the 2km. Courtney

‘Crusher’ Date showed all how to dive for flags!

At The Australian Championships in Mooloolaba,

the beach pit is always set up to perfection and with

a stadium atmosphere and a pleasure to compete.

Mitch Dean and Robyn Lester crushed the field in the

2km on Day 2, while Campbell Dawson secured Silver

in the 1km. Margie earned a solid Bronze in Flags while

Carolyn Macauley earned double Bronze in Flags and

Sprints.

Jayson and Cyril Baldock achieved fourth in Sprints and

Flags, with relay teams narrowly missing the podium.

Overall, the Beachies’ performance improved,

showcasing growing strength with new Members

and Open’s transitioning into Masters. The culture is

thriving, with support from the Surf Team enhancing

camaraderie and growth. Anticipation brews for the

next season, aiming for continued success and the

return of key Members to full health, including hopes

for Denise’s title defence at Worlds.

The Beachie spirit remains vibrant, fostering mutual

support and improvement.
