EDWIN J WILDIE- LORD TED
1st September 1938 - 12th April 2024
Edwin Wildie, better known as Lord Ted, joined Bondi SBLSC in January 2001
gaining his Bronze Medallion in 2006 at the age of 68. He was awarded his
60 year Long Service award in 2017, attributed to membership with other Surf
Clubs.
He has always been one of the great characters of the Bondi SBLSC, always
willing to have a chat and with a story for every occasion. He was always a
strong competitor for the Bondi SBLSC and will be greatly missed.
LEONARD HARRIS OAM
Life Member BSBLSC
12th April 1946 - 13th August 2023
Life Member, Leonard Harris OAM, joined Bondi SBLCS in March 1960,
completing his Bronze Medallion in 1962. Len held various Committee positions,
but his forte was Competition as both a Competitor and Coach.
He won two Australian R & R Titles for Bondi as a Competitor. Junior in 1963 and
Open Premiership in 1972.
Along with this his excellent Surf and Belt Race, swimming got him selected in
the NSW State Teams. He won Aussie gold in the open R & R for Bondi SBLSC.
Len coached four Australian Championship Bondi Junior and Cadet winning
teams.
In 1996 he was the Coach of the Australian Team in Durban, South Africa,
where he also won the World Masters over 50 Surf Race Championship
LLOYD GREENWOOD
14th April 1941 - 26 November 2023
Lloyd Greenwood joined Bondi SBLSC in 1996, gaining his 60 year Long Service
award in 2020.
Lloyd was a good long-term Member. He was one of the original Waverley
District Surf Jet Boat drivers in the early seventies. He was part of the Jet Boat
crew in the famous attempted rescue of a parachutist at the first City to Surf
on 5th September 1971. Lloyd and his fellow crew members received the Royal
Humane Society of NSW Certificate of Merit for their actions.
KEN JACKSON
18th October 1931 - 9th January 2024
Ken Jackson joined Bondi SBLSC in 1974, gaining his 25 year service award in
2001. Loving Father to Margie Markham, Paul and Emmanuel Jackson and
husband and grandfather
Ken had a strong love of Bondi SBLSC and a passion for body surfing. He
became a Club instructor in 1977 and a Silver Medallion IRB Driver in 1978.
DAMIEN WILSON
27th January 1971- 27th May 2023
Damien Wilson joined the Surf Club in 1985, completing his SRC in February
1985 and attaining his Bronze Medallion in 1986. Damien was the Australian
Champion of the 1987/88 Junior Surf Board Riding Competition.
KENNETH DAVIDSON
14th August 1937 - 7th June 2023
Kenneth Davidson joined the Club in 1953, completing his Bronze Medallion
in November 1953. He received a 50 year Long Service award from Wanda
Surf Club in 2020 and was also a Member of Cronulla Surf Club. Ken fondly
remembered the Royal Carnival held by the Queen in 1954.
