COMMUNITY

CHRISTMAS DAY

LUNCH

Bondi Community Xmas Day Lunch provided more than

800 meals were served to the most vulnerable members

of our community on Christmas Day. This included local

homeless, rough sleepers, persons escaping domestic

violence or abuse, at-risk youth and vulnerable families.

This year’s event was attended by over 340 in-person

guests, ranging from infants and children to elderly

seniors, who were all treated to a delicious three

course sit down meal at The Scenic Lounge , Bondi

Surf Club. We also were able to hand out over 500

take-away Christmas meal containers. These numbers

far exceeded our ambitious expectations and goals of

serving up to 250 in-person guests and providing 200

takeaway meals.

The event was made up entirely of individual volunteers:

with most of our volunteers coming from within the

Waverley and Eastern Suburbs community - showing

the generous giving and caring spirit of our local

community. However, we also had a few volunteers who

flew in from New Zealand and inter-state to be a part of

the event - demonstrating the far-reaching impact and

positive reputation the event has garnered in only its 4th

year of operation.

We could not have achieved any of this without all of

the generous support and in-kind donations the event

receives from local organisations and businesses. We

look forward to having the Bondi Surf Club continue to

be an integral part of the 2024 Community Xmas Day

Lunch and beyond, and to spreading the kindness of

the community and the spirit of giving back even further.
