I am thrilled to announce that our district has

developed a comprehensive strategic plan to guide us

towards continued success and growth. As president

of the Governing Board, I assure you that this plan

reflects our commitment to providing the best

education for all scholars while also addressing the

specific needs and concerns of our community.

Through collaboration with district leaders, staff,

parents, and community stakeholders, we have

identified key priorities and goals that align with our

mission and vision. This strategic plan will serve as a

roadmap

for

achieving

academic

excellence,

promoting equity and inclusivity, supporting staff

development, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

I am confident that by implementing this strategic plan,

we will continue to see positive outcomes for our

scholars and community. We are committed to

transparency

accountability

throughout

this

process and welcome your input and feedback.

Investing in Cartwright = Strong Economics for Our Future

Higher Earnings

College graduates still enjoy higher earnings than the average U.S. worker. The U.S. Bureau of Labor

Statistics (BLS) reports that in 2022, bachelor’s degree holders took home a median wage of $1,432

per week, while workers with just a high school diploma earned only $853.

That’s a difference of 68%.

Supporting a diverse and multilingual community

by bridging the gap to college education

Our commitment to enhancing our accountability system ensures that every scholar receives the support needed to

reach their highest potential.

We are committed to empowering every scholar with life skills development

We will provide small-group instruction and individualized learning

We will provide access to scholar empowerment programs

Recommended Actions :

Implemented District-wide:

Advanced strategies to ensure 3rd through 8th-grade scholars achieve annual proficiency in AASA state testing

Invest in curriculum and programs that focus on developing life skills alongside academic skills, aligning with the belief

in the importance of intrinsic motivation and the social-emotional needs of scholars

Allocate funds for small group instruction materials and training to meet the individual learning needs of scholars

Invest in resources that support differentiated instruction and cater to diverse learning styles and abilities

Develop and fund programs that empower scholars to advocate for themselves, promoting autonomy and a sense of

belonging

Invest in initiatives that encourage collaboration, student-centered learning, and positive relationships within

classrooms

We believe in a partnership that extends beyond our schools, involving parents, local businesses, and community

stakeholders in our scholars' education. This shared responsibility lays the foundation for shaping the leaders of

tomorrow.

We will promote community engagement programs

Host regular community engagement events that support all families

Partner with parent organizations, businesses, and community agencies

Recognize veterans among our staff and veteran organizations to highlight the value of armed forces

Foster and develop community partnerships

Develop partnerships with community organizations and businesses to enhance learning experiences through field

trips, sports, clubs, and community events

Invest in programs that promote joint partnerships between the school district, families, and the community.

Allocate resources for forums, surveys, and workshops that allow teachers to actively contribute to the strategic

planning process

Ensure that teacher, parents, and staff perspectives are valued and integrated into decision-making processes

Include training on recognizing and addressing personal biases and the use of

inclusive language

Allocate resources for the modernization and maintenance of school facilities to

provide a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment

Consider investments in technology and infrastructure that support modernized

scholars and staff safe

Por la Causa Esperanza Latino Teacher Award, which came with a $5,000

award for her and $2,500 donation to her school.

Awards

AZALAS 2024 Senior Scholarship recipient Bryan Ucles is a Cartwright alum, promoted from

Marc T. Atkinson Gifted Academy in May 2020.

Ka’Rea Goodner, special education teacher at Raúl H.

Castro Fine Arts Academy, was among the 2024 Brainly

Educators of the Year selected Nationwide!

Fourth-grade teacher at Palm Lane Elementary, Coach David Solano, was honored with

the NCAA Legacy and Legends Award, as well as the Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury

Coach of the Year Award.

John F. Long teacher Perla Apodaca received the Chicanos Por la Causa Esperanza Latino

Teacher Award 2023, which came with a $5,000 award for her and $2,500 donation to her

school.

2023 ASPRA*tions Awards: Dr. LeeAnn Aguilar-Lawlor received the top and prestigious

Superintendent for Contributions to Education Award.

Excellence Award for: Podcast/Audio - "Why Cartwright," Episode 7 on Field Trips

Excellence Award for: Video - Showcasing Schools

Award of Merit for: Social Media Campaign - Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Raúl H Castro Fine Arts Academy schools took top honors at the

2024 Project Citizen State Showcase hosted at Arizona State

University.

Glenn L. Downs Social Sciences Academy teacher Eric Alvarez received the Chicanos

Por la Causa Esperanza Latino Teacher Award 2022, which came with a $5,000 award

for him and a $2,500 donation to his school

Governing Board member Denice Garcia received the AZALAS (Arizona Association of Latino

Administrators and Superintendents) Outstanding Board Member Award for her work as a

board member and champion of mental health.
