LAST FRIDAY @ ROTARY

Dr Carey Wallace shares his passion about the diversity and

viability of the Tourism industry in Jamaica ...

At last week’s meeting of the

Rotary Club of New Kingston,

members had the pleasure of

hearing from Dr. Carey Wallace,

Executive

Director

of

the

Tourism Enhancement Fund,

who delivered an insightful

presentation on the importance

of tourism as a viable and

sustainable career option.

highlighting

the

immense

potential the industry holds for

economic

empowerment.

"Tourism should not be seen

merely as a sector but as a

viable career path," Dr. Wallace

stated.

He underscored the significant

opportunities

that

remain

untapped within the industry,

encouraging young people to

consider tourism as a means of

securing

their

economic

livelihood.

Dr. Wallace further illustrated

the industry’s potential as a

major revenue earner, sharing

that last year alone, tourism

generated

a

substantial

amount

of

income,

which

reflects its critical role in the

national economy.

However, he also pointed out

that there are still many areas

within the tourism sector that

have yet to be fully explored,

leaving room for growth and

innovation.

The

Rotary

Club

of

New

Kingston expressed gratitude

for Dr. Wallace's visit and his

insightful perspectives, which

have

undoubtedly

inspired

members

to

consider

the

broader implications of tourism

and

its

potential

to

drive

economic development.
