Year 9 Music covers three primary areas of study:

Musical Performance (Solo and Group): Students will learn to rehearse, interpret

music, and present chosen songs to the broader school community. Students will provide

constructive feedback on their peer’s performances and self-reflect on their rehearsals

and performances.

Music Technology (Composition): Using the theory learned in class, you will create a

song using Soundtrap. Students will learn how to modify loops, create drumbeats, and

create music with various instruments. At the end of the project, you will have made a

complete finished song in an mp3 format.

Musical Analysis and Theory: Students will learn a range of musical terminology and

how to write and respond to music heard using musical language. They will also examine

rhythm, chords, intervals, and scales and how to apply these to their instruments

practically.
