In this unit students will be introduced to the process of devising original theatre for an intended
audience. This subject will introduce students to different theatre styles and conventions that will
help create characters that work for an engaging performance. Students will consider how a
performance can impact the way an audience thinks and feels about social themes and ideas.
Students will also be required to see a live professional production, to analyse the performance
and design techniques used on the stage.
Students will participate in research tasks, group performance tasks and a mini class production.
The students will present their class production in the city to a panel of experts and schools
across Victoria, in the Suitcase Series showcase at The Malthouse Theatre.
