Hitchin Boys’

School

Development Plan

2024 - 2029

Our Mission

Striving for excellence

Honouring our history; ambitious for our future

Our Values

They will have a strength of character, underpinned by compassion

and kindness, that ensures they pursue meaningful relationships

with a spirit of curiosity, respect, and empathy.

They will have a strength of purpose and resolve, allowing them to

stand up for what they believe, to persevere and flourish in

school, work, and life.

They will be true to themselves, understanding themselves, the

world, and their duty to others.

They will be true to others, acting wisely in a complex world,

building lives of purpose, impact, and service.

Our Mission Statement is underpinned by two values:

A Hitchin Boy will be Strong and True

‘We want all our pupils to leave Hitchin Boys’ School having had a

rich and fulfilling experience that enables them to enter an ever-

changing world being Strong and True.

We want them to leave as ambassadors for the future, embracing

our core values to make a positive difference, leading and shaping

the communities and world they encounter.

We want them to have strength of character and a versatile and

agile mind. Through this they will flourish.’

The School’s

Commitment

School

Development Plan

2024-2029

We will ensure that our curriculum beyond the

classroom is of the highest quality aiming to

provide something for everyone. We will equip

boys with skills for life, ensuring they embrace our

values and work collaboratively.

We will enhance their passions whilst supporting

their mental health and wellbeing through an

extensive, well supported programme in areas such

as the creative arts, sport, outdoor education,

clubs, trips, activities, and academic enrichment.

Co Curricular

Communications

We will review all our internal and external

communications to ensure all of our community

receive the right information, at the right time. We

will

consider

how

we

report,

celebrate

achievement, and work collaboratively to ensure

every pupil achieves their potential. Together we

will celebrate the huge diversity and talents we

have in the school and ensure there is opportunity

for everyone to excel.

We will ensure we not only support our community

but get a greater understanding of the needs of others

and how we can make a positive difference in the

world.

We will ensure we build strong networks of support in

our local and wider community. We will be good

neighbours to all in the local area, acting with

compassion and care towards those less fortunate. We

will actively seek opportunities to support others.
