UDI Okanagan Overview
Over the past year, we’ve navigated
through a landscape filled with
challenges and opportunities in the
Okanagan Region. A tsunami of
legislative changes swept across
British Columbia, primarily aimed at
addressing the affordable housing
crisis. This crisis demanded
unprecedented changes on a Provincial
level that affected municipal policies
and ultimately, the development
industry.
In response, UDI Okanagan proactively
engaged with local municipalities to
assess the ramifications of these shifts
on our industry. We worked diligently
to communicate the impact of the
changes in clear, accessible language,
ensuring that everyone involved
understood their implications.
Through consistent dialogue and
collaboration with municipal authorities,
we ensured that the concerns of our
members remained at the forefront
during policy implementations.
This concerted effort resulted in
constructive exchanges and a shared
understanding of the ‘what’ and ‘how’
of these policies.
In addition to our advocacy work, we
expanded our focus on education and
networking opportunities. Notably,
our members were granted the
opportunity to enroll in the Capital
Region’s renowned Real Estate
Development (RED) Management
Certificate Program for the first time in
the Okanagan region. Our commitment
is to continue adding value to our
Okanagan members through our core
principles of advocacy, networking,
and education.
