1- Sustainability Awareness (06-09 years)

Welcome to interactive presentation, created with Publuu. Enjoy the reading!

SUSTAINABILITY

AWARENESS

6 TO 10 YEARS

Sustainability awareness means being aware

of how our actions afect the world around us.

It's about understanding that the things we

do, like using too much water, throwing away

too much trash, or using too much electricity,

can harm the planet and other people. When

we are aware of these issues, we can make

better choices, like taking shorter showers,

recycling, or turning of lights when we leave a

room. We can also encourage others to make

more sustainable choices, and work together

to create a healthier and more sustainable

future for everyone.

SUSTAINABILITY

AWARENESS?

SUSTAINABILITY IS ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED NOW, BUT ALSO TAKING

CARE NOT TO USE UP ALL OF OUR RESOURCES OR DAMAGE THE PLANET, SO THAT THERE WILL BE

ENOUGH FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TOO. WE CAN DO THIS BY BEING CAREFUL ABOUT HOW WE

USE ENERGY AND MATERIALS, BY RECYCLING, BY PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT, AND BY

TREATING EACH OTHER FAIRLY.

SUSTAINABILITY

WHAT IS SUSTAINABILITY

AND WHAT ARE SOME

GOOD IDEAS TO PROMOTE IT.

LEARNING TO CHANGE THE WORLD!

WHAT IS EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE

DEVELOPMENT?

HOW DO WE WANT TO LIVE IN THE FUTURE?

WHAT AND HOW DO WE NEED TO LEARN TO

MAKE THAT FUTURE POSSIBLE?

EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

PROVIDES ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a

list of 17 things that the world is trying to make

better by the year 2030. These goals include things

like ending poverty and hunger, making sure

everyone can go to school, protecting the

environment, and making cities more sustainable.

Each goal has a specifc list of things that we need

to do to make it happen. For example, to help with

the goal of clean water and sanitation, we need to

make sure that everyone has access to clean

drinking water and proper toilets.

They are created by the United Nations and

promoted as the Global Goals for Sustainable

Development. The SGDs run from 2015 to 2030.

There are 17 goals and 169 specifc targets for

those goals.

The SDGs are like a big list of things we need to do

to make the world better, and we all have to work

together to make them happen and make the

world a happier place for everyone. The are a plan

for all the countries to help each other and the

planet.

THEY AIM TO ERADICATE

POVERTY, PROTECT THE

PLANET AND ENSURE

PROSPERITY FOR ALL.

The Paris Agreement is a big commitment made by

almost every country in the world to help stop the Earth

from getting too hot. This is very important because if

the Earth gets too hot, it could cause problems like more

natural disasters, less water, and more animals losing

their homes.

Each country has made a plan to reduce the pollution

that is causing the Earth to get hotter. They will check

how well they are doing and make their plans stronger

over time.

This is the frst time that so many countries have agreed

to work together to solve a big problem like climate

change. By working together, the world can make the

Earth a safer and healthier place for everyone.

PARIS AGREEMENT

The 21th Conference of Parties (COP 21) of the UN gathered 195 countries to negotiate and fnalize the frst

global agreement to curb greenhouse gas emissions. Watch the video and learn how everyone can help by

doing good things for the earth.

THE PARIS AGREEMENT FOR CLIMATE CHANGE (VIDEO)

The European Green Deal is a big plan to help protect the

environment and make the world a better place. The European

Union (EU) made the plan to make sure the air and water are

cleaner, the animals have a safe place to live, and that people have

good jobs and a bright future.

The Green Deal includes lots of important things to do, like making

sure we use more energy from the sun, wind, and water, instead of

things that pollute the air. It also wants to make sure that we use

things over and over again, instead of just throwing them away, so

that we waste less.

The Green Deal is about making sure that everyone is treated fairly,

too. It wants to make sure that everyone has a good life and a good

job, no matter where they live in the EU.

Overall, the European Green Deal is a plan to make Europe a cleaner

and better place to live, while also making sure that people have

good jobs and a good life.

PLANS TO CHANGE THE WAY WE LIVE, WORK AND

MOVE AND TO MAKE THE EU THE WORLD’S FIRST

CLIMATE-NEUTRAL CONTINENT.

PLANETARY BOUNDARIES

The planetary boundaries are like rules that help us take care of our planet and make sure it stays healthy and

happy. Think of it like taking care of your own body: you need to eat healthy food, get enough sleep, and

exercise to stay healthy. In the same way, our planet needs us to take care of it too!

There are nine rules in total, and they help us make sure that we don't use up all the planet's resources or make

the air and water too dirty. For example, one rule says that we shouldn't cut down too many trees, because

trees help keep our air clean. Another rule says that we shouldn't use too much of the Earth's land to grow

food, because we need some land to be wild and full of animals.

It's important to follow these rules so that our planet stays healthy and we can live on it for a long, long time!

The planetary boundaries can also be applied at

home! This means that we can do our part to help

take care of the planet, even if we're just at home.

Here are a few ways you can help:

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE:

This means that you can help by reducing the

amount of waste you produce, reusing things

instead of throwing them away, and recycling items

like paper, plastic, and glass. You can start by

recycling your own waste and reminding others in

your family to do the same.

Save energy: You can help by turning of lights

when you leave a room, and by unplugging

electronics when you're not using them. This can

help save energy and reduce greenhouse gas

emissions.

THE PLANETARY

BOUNDARIES AND

WHAT THEY MEAN FOR

THE FUTURE OF

HUMANITY

Our buying and using stuf,

and how we use up resources

are pushing our planet’s

environmental systems to the

limits of their stability.

Use water wisely: You can help by taking short

showers instead of long ones, and by turning of the

water when you're brushing your teeth. You can also

help by fxing any leaks in the faucets, because even

small leaks can waste a lot of water over time.

Eat healthy food: You can help by eating more fruits,

vegetables, and whole grains, and by cutting back on

junk food. This can help reduce the amount of land

that's used to grow food, and it can also help you stay

healthy.

You can help take care of the planet and make

sure it stays healthy for many years to come!

BIOECONOMY

The bioeconomy is like a big garden where we grow

things from nature, like plants and animals, to make

our food, stuf we use, and energy that are good for us

and the environment. We use these things to make

food, medicine, fuel, and other things we need.

It's important because it helps us take care of our

planet and make sure we have enough things we

need now and in the future. It also helps us be kind to

the environment by using things that are better for it,

like using plant-based fuels instead of things that can

hurt the air and water.

This helps in three big ways. First, it helps keep the

earth healthy and clean by using things that are

better for the earth instead of things that can hurt it.

Second, it helps create jobs and make communities

stronger, especially in the countryside. And third, it

helps make sure we have enough food, fuel, and

other things we need now and in the future.

The European Commission thinks bioeconomy is the

way to go, and they're working on a plan to make our

world more eco-friendly by working together with

nature.

THE BIOECONOMY STARTS

HERE.... BE PART OF IT!

THE BLOOM BIOECONOMY

SUITCASE

ITS TIME TO TRAVEL!

“A suitcase flled with items that might look and feel like

the products we´ve been using for years, except that they

are slightly diferent: they don’t harm the environment.

Our case has been packed with what is known as

BIOBASED PRODUCTS. Hmmn?!

These are products that are made mostly from plants and

other natural or recycled raw materials. This is diferent

from many of the household products that we use today,

made from fossils that the earth will run out of, in the

future.

THE BIOECONOMY IN

OUR EVERYDAY LIVES

Bio-based products are already part of our everyday

lives. Watch this video with Peter and Sarah! They'll

tell you cool things about stuf made from nature in

our daily lives. They also talk about a project called

BIOWAYS that gets people excited about using more

of these natural products.

What will you

pack in your

suitcase the

next time you

travel?”

CIRCULAR

ECONOMY

The circular economy is about making sure that

we can use things for a long time, without

having to throw them away. This helps to keep

the earth healthy and clean, and also helps to

make sure we have enough resources for the

future.

And that's not all - it can also create jobs and

help the economy grow in a healthy way.

Instead of just making new things all the time,

we try to fx and reuse what we already have,

and make new things from old things.

It's like building a big, strong, and healthy

castle. Every time we use something, we try to

make sure it can be used again and again,

instead of just breaking it and throwing it away.

and How Society Can

Re-think Progress

Re-Thinking Progress explores how through a change in

perspective we can re-design the way our economy works -

designing products that are easy to take apart and reuse, and

use clean energy to run everything. This video asks if we can

use our imaginations and new ideas to create an economy

that helps our planet get better.

our planet?

PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE

Planned obsolescence is when toy makers make toys that will stop working or look old after a little while, even

though they could have lasted longer. They do this so that kids will want to buy a new toy. The toy makers

want you to keep buying new toys from them so they can make more money.

But, it's important to remember that we can take care of our toys and try to use them for as long as possible,

so that we don't waste them and have more fun with them for longer!

Planned obsolescence? It's gone too far!

The system is rigged to stop us fxing our

stuf!

We need a universal Right to Repair for all

consumers and repairers.

Climate change is when the Earth's weather and temperature are changing

in a big way and it's happening because of things people are doing.

When we burn fossil fuels, like coal and oil, and cut down trees, we put extra stuf

in the air that acts like a thick blanket, trapping more heat from the sun. This

makes the Earth warmer.

What is Climate Change?

Everyone’s talking about climate change but what is

our climate? And why is it changing?

Our climate has been changing much faster and

there are many things you and I can do to help make

it better.

CLIMATE

CHANGE

This extra heat is changing the weather and temperature patterns we're used to.

It's making sea levels rise, making storms stronger, and even changing things like

the food we eat and the air we breathe.

It's important that we do something about climate change now, so we can

protect our planet and make sure it's a healthy place for us and for future

generations.

ENERGY

Energy is the power that allows things to work or

move, and it comes in many diferent forms. One

example of energy is electricity, which powers

many of the devices and machines we use every

day, such as lights, televisions, computers, and

refrigerators. Another example is gasoline, which

is used as fuel for cars and other vehicles.

Renewable energy sources like solar and wind

power are also becoming more popular, as they

can provide clean and sustainable energy

without contributing to climate change or other

environmental problems. Overall, energy is an

important part of our lives, and if we can use it

better and in a way that's good for the Earth, it

will help make a happier future for all of us.

What is ENERGY?

Energy powers everything around us. In the EU,

each of us uses a great deal of energy every day

and our electricity is often measured in

kilowatt-hours.

Efciency means getting

more for less. If we are

efcient with energy, we

can enjoy the same levels of

comfort or more, while

using less!

What is RENEWABLE

ENERGY?

We can all play our part in

protecting the environment and

our climate by using greener forms

of energy. Like renewable energy –

so-called because it is powered by

nature and easily renewed.
